NAGCARLAN, Laguna — The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI Laguna) introduced entrepreneurship as a potential career and livelihood pathway to 65 Grade 12 learners of Talangan Integrated National High School (TINHS) on September 30, 2026, as they prepare for their next steps after senior high school.
The session, “Sowing Seeds of Entrepreneurship: Entrepreneurial Mindsetting, Financial Literacy & Business Start-Up Ideas for Future Entrepreneurs,” provided practical guidance on developing an entrepreneurial mindset, managing finances, and identifying business start-up opportunities.
DTI Laguna Senior Trade-Industry Development Specialist Klyde Joy B. Bruno and Negosyo Center Business Counselors Neliza C. Pitargue and Franchesca Nadine B. Gallano served as resource speakers, sharing practical insights and experiences with the learners.
For Pitargue, the activity marked a return to her former school, where she once participated in student organizations and activities. Years later, she returned to TINHS as a DTI resource speaker, sharing the experiences and lessons she gained along her professional journey.
“When I was a student here, I was also thinking about what I would do after senior high school. Coming back now as a DTI resource speaker, I want to share that starting a business is not only about having capital—it also takes the right mindset to see opportunities and create value. A good idea is just the beginning; building a sustainable business requires financial literacy, discipline, and responsible decision-making,” Pitargue said.
The learners also raised practical questions about exploring entrepreneurship, including DTI assistance for aspiring young entrepreneurs and the registration requirements for small businesses. The resource speakers addressed these concerns during the open forum, helping clarify the steps and support available to those considering entrepreneurship as a future livelihood.
The activity was organized by the TINHS SHS Chroniclers, the school’s journalism club, under the guidance of Principal III Dr. Erene SJ. Panopio and SHS Chroniclers Adviser Dr. Elymar A. Pascua, with support from the school’s senior high school advisers and DTI Laguna in introducing learners to entrepreneurship and available government support. (FNBGallano, DTI Laguna)
