STA. CRUZ, LAGUNA — The Department of Trade and Industry – Laguna Provincial Office (DTI Laguna) in partnership with Laguna University conducted a seminar titled “Planting Seeds of Entrepreneurship: An Entrepreneurial Mindset, Business Start Up & Legalization Seminar for Laguna University Students” on September 24, 2026, at the Laguna University Covered Court, Bubukal, Sta. Cruz, Laguna.
One of the highlights of the seminar was the business idea activity, 207students of Laguna University were encouraged to think like entrepreneurs and turn everyday problems into potential business opportunities. Students were presented with practical situations and encouraged to come up with possible products or services that could address the identified problems or needs. The activity allowed the participants to apply the concepts discussed and practice identifying opportunities, solving problems, and creating value for potential customers.
The discussion also introduced students to the basic considerations in starting a business, including identifying target customers, understanding costs, setting prices, developing a value proposition, and promoting a product or service. The speakers also discussed the importance of business registration and legalization, as well as the available government support for aspiring entrepreneurs. Consumer education was also incorporated into the seminar, emphasizing the importance of understanding consumer rights and responsibilities and considering customer needs when developing products and services.
Through the discussions and activities, students were given an opportunity to look at entrepreneurship beyond simply starting a business. They were encouraged to become more observant of problems and opportunities around them and to consider how their ideas and skills could be used to create solutions and provide value. The activity highlighted the importance of exposing young people to entrepreneurship at an early stage and equipping them with practical knowledge that they can apply as they explore future business and career opportunities.
The seminar reinforced the commitment of DTI Laguna and Laguna University to support youth entrepreneurship by providing students with relevant knowledge and practical experiences that can help them develop into opportunity oriented, creative, and solution driven future entrepreneurs.
