QUEZON CITY (PIA) — In celebration of the 31st anniversary of PhilHealth and the National Health Insurance Month, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) MRT-3 and the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced free rides await PhilHealth cardholders.
The free rides on MRT-3 and LRT-2 will be available on February 14 (Saturday), from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., for all PhilHealth cardholders.
To avail of the free rides, one simply has to present their PhilHealth physical card or digital ID to obtain a Single Journey Ticket (SJT).
Passengers are reminded to go through designated areas and exit within the designated time to avoid penalties.
February of each year marks the country’s observance of the National Health Insurance (NHI) Month by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 1400 s. 2007, which underlines the important role of social health insurance in every Filipino’s life.
The Bayanihan spirit is best demonstrated in the PhilHealth program, where the young are helping the old, the healthy are subsidizing the sick, those earning more are subsidizing those who are earning less, and those who are able subsidize the poor and the vulnerable sectors such as senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
